Varanasi: A team of Varanasi Police arrested One Rajeev Singh, more accused in the Rs 287 crore scam by real estate company Shine City, on Saturday brought him to the city from a luxurious hotel in Rajasthan’s Jaipur in another inter-state operation on Sunday. Singh will be produced in the court by the Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) on Monday.
Varanasi Police Commissioner A Satish Ganesh said on Sunday, “The accused Rajeev Singh was arrested by our team on Saturday from a luxurious hotel in Bajaj Nagar police station area of ​​Jaipur, from Lanka police station sub-inspector Prabhakar Singh, from Bhelpur. The CP said that Singh was hiding in a four-star hotel in Jaipur on the basis of fake identity for several days. “This was the fourth time in the last 15 days that an accused in the Shine City scam has been arrested by Varanasi Police from another state. Before Singh, three accused were arrested from Bihar and West Bengal in separate sharp inter-state operations of the police,” he said.
Singh, who hails from Kaimur in Bihar, is believed to be one of the kingpins of the Rs 287-crore Shine City scam, and in several cases for defrauding hundreds of citizens in Varanasi by luring them to invest their money to buy land. was recorded. .
“A local court had issued a non-bailable warrant against Singh. After producing him in the court on Monday, the police will seek his remand for questioning and further investigation,” said the police commissioner.
The CP also announced a cash reward of Rs 50,000 to the team for this achievement.
A total of 284 cases of defrauding investors of over Rs 237 crore have been registered against real estate firm ‘Shine City Group of Companies’.
Before Singh, the Varanasi police had arrested Aryan Bhargava from Bandel in West Bengal and Mushtaq Alam, the mastermind of Deoria, from Bihar on October 13.
Police had announced a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh each on the main accused Rashid Naseem and Asif Naseem, who are suspected to be hiding in the gulf. Five other masterminds of the company, on whom a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh each has been announced, are also on the police radar, while the number of arrests so far has gone up to 50.
