Chandu Champion is inspired by the life of Murlikant Petkar, India’s first Paralympic gold medalist. The film was released on June 14

Kartik Aaryan’s Chandu Champion has been winning the hearts of its audience since the day it has released. It has been going strong at the box office too. Well, in a recent conversation with Zoom, the actor, who is currently busy shooting for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, recalled experiencing an explosion on the set. His right eye was injured.

Kartik said, “All of us are running and there is an explosion. Mere right side bhaagte hue just pehle hona tha…(The explosion was supposed to blast on his right side before he reached a certain point after the run). Woh kuch timing off ho gaya rehearsal mein toh main jab pahucha hoon us jagah pe, woh usi time blast ho gaya. Mere right eye pe blast kar gaya tha (However, there was a miscalculation in timing and it blasted exactly when the actor reached at his position. It hit near his right eye)”. The incident left his scared.

He also shared a grateful note on Thursday, “Some characters you play touch your heart and soul and then change your life forever, For me it was playing the Champion Murlikant Petkar Ji And I couldn’t have asked for a better taskmaster than @kabirkhankk sir who held my hand in this unforgettable journey #ChanduChampion in Theatres”.

For the unversed, Chandu Champion was released on June 14 and collected 5.40 crore on its opening day. It then witnessed a 45% growth on its second day and earned Rs 7.70 crore. The film saw a remarkable 100% growth on day three, collecting 11.01 crore. The strong word of mouth, love and raving positive reviews further significantly boosted the film’s performance, resulting in a solid collection of 6.01 crore on day 4. It then earned Rs 3.6 crore and Rs 3.40 crore on days five and six respectively.

Chandu Champion is inspired by the life of Murlikant Petkar, India’s first Paralympic gold medalist. The film follows Kartik Aaryan’s transformation from a young guy to a soldier, boxer and, finally, a survivor.

Kartik Aaryan will be next seen in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 with Triptii Dimri, Madhuri Dixit and Vidya Bala.
