With internal BJP surveys indicating that the fight for power will be tough, Karnataka BJP leaders including Bommai are hopeful that this time, PM Modi’s charisma and BJP’s development card will save the government from anti-incumbency.

Till March 25 this year, the BJP’s central leadership – including PM Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and national president JP Nadda – visited the state 24 times to instill confidence in the party people and boost the party’s prospects in Karnataka. has visited.

“Modi-ji enjoys immense love and respect among the people of Karnataka. People have seen how the double engine government has given one project after another for their welfare. In the recent closed-door core committee meeting of the BJP, the party laid out a clear plan on the seats that are sure winners and those that require extra effort. That is why the party is taking its time in announcing the list of candidates, a state BJP leader explained.

Interestingly, in the last three months, PM Modi has covered almost every region in Karnataka except Coastal Karnataka. The region, especially Dakshina Kannada, is known as the BJP’s ‘Hindutva’ laboratory and the party hopes to win maximum seats in its favor and reduce the hold of the opposition Congress. The Prime Minister’s visit has been to launch a series of development projects or inaugurate events in key areas of the state where the BJP hopes to gain more ground such as Kalaburagi, Tumakuru, Mandya, Chikkaballapur, Shivamogga and Hubli.

Modi returned to Karnataka a week later on 19 January and visited Yadgir and Kalaburagi as part of a program to distribute ‘hakku patras’ (claim letters) and give title deeds to over 50,000 families belonging to the Banjara and Lambani communities of the region. did. ,

Frequent visits by top BJP leaders have given the opposition an opportunity to mock the party for being ‘tenterhooks’. Senior Congress leader Mansoor Khan called it “a desperate act as the BJP has failed to provide good governance”.

He told News18, “It seems he is in the ICU and he is hopeful that Dr Modi will revive him and bring him back to life.”
