Karnataka’s first Vistadome coach departs from Mangaluru. Mangaluru News – Times of India

MANGALURU: Excitement was in the air, as people thronged to take pictures inside Vistadome coaches Mangaluru Junction Railway station on Sunday. MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Mayor Premanand Shetty, MLA D Vedavyas Kamath, Southern Railway, Palakkad Divisional, Divisional Railway Manager Trilok Kothari, Deputy Commissioner Dr KV Rajendra and others flagged off the state’s first Vistadome coaches connected to Mangaluru Junction – Yesvantpur day train.
Not only passengers, railway employees, policemen and media persons were also found taking selfies and taking pictures of the interiors while passing through the coaches which were started with the aim of promoting rail tourism.
Preeti Bhardwaj from Bengaluru was also among the first passengers to take the service. She was traveling with her husband Nitin and 12-year-old son Nitash. The family landed in Mangaluru on Friday so that they could board the train. “Our son loves trains and it has been almost two years since we traveled. We have heard a lot about these Indian Railways coaches and realized that we should travel and enjoy the fascinating Western Ghats, especially on the Sakleshpur-Subramanya Ghat section,” she said.
Each Vistadome coach has a seating capacity of 44 with seats that are 180 degree rotatable. Wide, large windows will offer a clear close-up view for passersby.
Shaila and her husband Srinivas Nayak said they are excited to capture the beautiful Western Ghats this season. There were some passengers who did not expect that the inaugural service would receive so much attention.
Nitin N Shenoy, Bangalore-based Insolvency Professional said that the journey has been beautiful, beautiful and recommends everyone to travel once in a lifetime. “It was foggy and it was raining, but one needs to be patient as the train stopped near Yedkumeri for about an hour and people came out and clicked pictures,” he told Hassan.
Deputy Chief Ticket Inspector N Sanjay said that 75 seats have been booked and out of this 45 seats will travel till Yesvantpur. Around 29 are expected to board the train from Subrahmanya Road.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said that the passengers are demanding change in the timings of Mangaluru-Vijaypura train and Gomateshwar Express. There has been a demand of the public that Gomateshwar Express should leave Yesvantpur at 9.30 am instead of 8.15 am. The MP said that the issue would be discussed with the minister and the officials of the department.
Meanwhile, Puttur MLA Sanjeev Matandur welcomed the Vistadome coaches Kabaka Putturi railway station.
