Karnataka Transport Department seizes Rolls-Royce, once owned by Amitabh, now operated by ‘Salman’

Bangalore: The Karnataka Transport Department on Sunday night seized seven luxury cars including a Rolls Royce that once belonged to Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan.

News agency IANS reported that the seizure took place after the transport department conducted an operation near UB City area in Bengaluru to identify violators who are not paying tax or do not have proper documents and insurance. .

As far as Rolls-Royce, which earlier belonged to Amitabh Bachchan, it was found that the Bengaluru-based realtor who had bought the luxury car from the megastar was yet to transfer the vehicle’s registration in his name.

The officials have asked the present owner, identified as Babu, to produce necessary documents and release the vehicle.

“I have directly bought this Rolls-Royce by paying Rs 6 crore to Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan. I had bought the vehicle though it was old as it belonged to the actor in 2019. I have applied for a change of name for registration But somehow it could not be done,” Babu was quoted as saying by IANS.

“We have two Rolls-Royce cars. The other is new. My kids take Amitabh Bachchan’s car during Sundays and holidays. My daughter was traveling in the car when it was confiscated. The officials took her to the RTO office located there. In Nelamangala, on the outskirts of the city. He had requested them to drop him home,’ he said.

“I spoke to the transport commissioner and asked him not to harass us unnecessarily. He explained that there are many cars plying in the city with the same registration number and they are keeping an eye on it. They presented us valid documents. Was told to do and get it. The car missed. I will do that,” explained Babu.

Additional Commissioner of Transport Department Narendra Holkar said that the Rolls-Royce car has been confiscated for not having proper documents.

The owner then presented a letter signed by Amitabh Bachchan, proving that the vehicle was sold to him.

On an interesting note, the man driving the luxury car at the time of the seizure was a driver named Salman Khan (not related to the popular ‘Race 3’ actor).

Other cars seized during the Karnataka Transport Department operation include Rolls-Royce Phantom, Land Rover, Range Rover, Evoque, Jaguar XJ-L, Ferrari, Audi R8 and Porsche.
