Karnataka: Theft of petroleum products detected in Dakshina Kannada district, 1 booked Mangaluru News – Times of India

Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada District Police have registered a case against a person for theft of petroleum products Pipeline of Petronet MHB Limited Mangaluru to Bangalore Arla Village.
According to a complaint filed by G Rajan, Officer-in-Charge of Petronet MHB station on Tuesday, the authorities noticed a change in pressure from 7 am to 5 pm on July 11.
He assumed that the pipeline coating might have been damaged and so he conducted a survey.
On digging the soil on the spot, they found a system for tampering with the pipeline and extracting petroleum products.
The accused allegedly connected a 1.5-inch pipe to the pipeline and then inserted three valves with flexible cables to steal petroleum products.
While the damage to the pipeline was estimated to be around Rs 90,000, the exact value of the stolen products is yet to be ascertained.
Since the land belongs to a person identified as Ivan, the police have registered cases against him under the provisions of the Petroleum and Mineral Pipeline Act and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act and sections 427, 285 and 379 of the IPC.
