Allowance for unemployed youth, free travel for women, and pension under the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) for government employees are among the top promises made by the Congress party in its manifesto for the upcoming assembly elections in Karnataka.

The Congress also promised to ban organizations like Bajrang Dal and repeal all “unjust, anti-people laws” passed by the BJP government within a year if voted to power.

All India Congress Committee (AICC) President and Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, AICC General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President DK Shivakumar, Leader of the Assembly Opposition Siddaramaiah, Leader of the Legislative Council Opposition BK Hariprasad and the Manifesto Committee President of G. Parameshwara, along with others, was part of the launch of the manifesto at the Shangharila Hotel in Bangalore.

Major promises of the Congress manifesto

  • The manifesto states that government employees appointed after 2006 will get pension under the Old Pension Scheme (OPS).
  • Comparing the banned Islamist outfit Popular Front of India (PFI) with Sangh-affiliated Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s youth wing Bajrang Dal, the Congress said it would ban organizations that “promote enmity or hatred, irrespective of the majority”. or among minority communities”. ,

  • Congress promises to support 5,000 women entrepreneurs every year and nurture 5,000 women-powered micro-enterprises in five years to encourage women to adopt modern needs like food processing, catering, mobile canteens, solid waste management etc. announced to do.
