Karnataka: Negative Covid-19 report required for those entering from Tamil Nadu

Chennai: Following a rise in the number of COVID-19 cases in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka’s Chamarajanagar district has made it mandatory for travelers from its neighboring Tamil Nadu to submit a negative COVID-19 report. However, those who have taken both setbacks are expected to hold a mandate.

Earlier, Karnataka had made negative Covid-19 reports mandatory for those traveling from Kerala and Maharashtra.

According to the Times of India, passengers from Tamil Nadu will have to bring negative reports from Sunday which is not more than 72 hours old at the time of arrival. Passengers failing to submit negative reports will be sent back and this also applies to drivers of vehicles carrying essential commodities including fruits and vegetables between states. The report states that those who have taken both the vaccination jobs need not submit a negative COVID-19 report, but will have to submit their vaccination certificate upon their arrival.

Meanwhile, the district administration has intensified the measures to screen people at the Punajanur check-post on the Karnataka-Tamil Nadu border, Nal Road near Ardhanipura and the check-post at Palar in Hennur taluk.
