Karnataka Hijab Controversy: The Karnataka Minorities Welfare Department has prohibited school students from wearing saffron gamchas, scarves, hijabs and similar clothes with religious flags and emblems inside classrooms till further orders.
The State Minorities Department has also issued a circular in this regard late on Thursday evening. Hijab, burqa and saffron gamcha are banned in all educational institutions on the basis of the interim order of the Karnataka High Court.

Admission to classes will be available only after taking off
The Karnataka Minorities Department in its circular has appealed to the government and all other stakeholders to open schools, colleges and all educational institutions and start classes. The department further said that till the disposal of the petitions in the hijab dispute case, students of all religions will not be allowed to wear hijab, burqa, saffron gamcha etc. in any educational institution. Admission will be given to the classes only after removing them.

Will be applicable even in institutions with dress code
Along with this, the commission has also made it clear that these guidelines will also be applicable to all those educational institutions where the dress code prescribed by the college committee is applicable. They will also have to follow the directions as per the orders of the High Court.
