Karnataka Election 2023 LIVE: Congress Manifesto On BJP’s Target; Bajrang Dal to Conduct ‘Hanuman Chalisa’ Recital Across State

Congress Parliamentary Party President Sonia Gandhi is also set to launch the party’s campaign for the upcoming Karnataka Assembly elections. Sources told the news agency that Gandhi will address a public meeting in Hubli district on Saturday. Year,

In addition, the Election Commission of India on Wednesday issued a show-cause notice to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s son Priyank for using “derogatory language” against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The BJP unit in Karnataka on Monday filed a complaint with the Election Commission against Priyanka for his “worthless son” remark against PM Modi.

Meanwhile, the manifestos of the BJP and the Congress have given a lot of impetus to the election campaign for the May 10 Karnataka assembly elections, which were initially supposed to be a dull battle without much movement. In the last two days, the two manifestos have taken center stage and the campaigning is likely to continue till the polls are over.

The document, which provided the vision of the two national political parties for the next five years, suddenly became the talk of the town like never before.

While the BJP released its “nationalist” manifesto with ‘Hindutva tinge’ on 1 May, the Congress made its “secular” manifesto public on 2 May. The BJP called its manifesto ‘Praja Pranalike-2023’ (Citizen’s Manifesto-2023) and the Congress a ‘paradise of peace for all’. JD(S) also brought out its ‘Janata Pranalike’ (People’s Manifesto) between these two giants.

The ruling BJP has promised to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in its manifesto. The party also promised to form a special wing called ‘Karnataka State Wing Against Religious Fundamentalism and Terror’ (K-SWIFT) in the state.

The Congress was well on its way with its five guarantees and proposed pro-people policies, but it blew the hornet’s nest in its manifesto by saying it would ban organizations like the Bajrang Dal and the hate-mongering Popular Front of India.

The Congress said it was determined to take strong and decisive action against individuals and organizations promoting hatred between communities on the basis of caste and religion.

Since most of the Bajrang Dal workers are also BJP workers, the Congress eventually attracted the wrath of the saffron party in general and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in particular, who gained ammunition to target his rival party.

Congress has decided to discontinue Lord Hanuman in its manifesto. Initially, he locked Prabhu Shri Ram (Lord Rama). And now they want to lock up people who say ‘Jai Bajrangbali’, said PM Modi.

The BJP has been projecting the Congress as an ‘anti-Hindu’ party. The Prime Minister claimed that this was an attempt to shut down ‘Bajrangbali’ and his devotees after “locking up” Lord Ram in Ayodhya till the late 1980s, when the temple gate was opened. He even made it a point to chant ‘Jai Bajrangbali’ at the beginning and end of his speech to convey the message that his party stands with Bajrang Dal.

Amid controversy over Congress’ promise to ban Bajrang Dal in its manifesto for Karnataka elections, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Union minister Shobha Karandlaje said the ruling party will recite Hanuman Chalisa across Karnataka on Thursday evening.

“Randeep Singh Surjewala has said that BJP workers do not know how to sing Hanuman Chalisa. I invite Randeep Singh Surjewala, tomorrow at 7 pm Hanuman Chalisa will be recited in all parts of the state. Come, listen and watch how we recite Hanuman Chalisa. I request all the people of the state to participate in the event,” said Karandlaje.

The Karnataka Legislative Assembly has a total of 224 seats and a party needs 113 seats for a majority.
