The footage shows a member of the shrine committee asking the Christian boy to leave the ground and play in the church premises. At that time, the Hindu boys support their Christian friend and request the committee member not to drag religion into the issue.
The committee member suddenly reprimanded the Hindu boys for playing cricket “with people of other religions”. She is heard telling the boys that she has spoken to him MLA Over the phone on this issue.
Sources claimed that the Dharmasthala committee had decided to plant saplings and dig pits for it. Since it was not possible to play cricket at that place, some youths protested saying that they are Hindus and they should be allowed to play cricket on the ground. This reportedly angered the committee member, who said a Christian boy was among the players and questioned his presence in the temple.
Committee member, recognized as Praveen, later offered an apology and said he had no intention of hurting anyone. A police officer said he spoke informally to the committee member and the boys, and both denied any intention to hurt anyone on religious grounds.
