Karnataka: 750 primary health centers to be upgraded Hubli News – Times of India

Hubballi: Taking lessons from the pandemic, the state government is seriously working on the upgradation of health infrastructure. Soon the Primary Health Center (PHC) at Bengaluru, Tumakuru, davanagere, Dharwad Other districts will be upgraded.
The state government plans to take up the upgradation works of 750 PHCs across the state and finish the work within two months.
Out of 3,359 PHCs in the state, the health department will work in 750 PHCs in the first phase. The department has directed all the district administrations to submit the details of PHCs for starting the work.
Doctor KV Trilok ChandraThe Commissioner of Health and Family Welfare Department said that all the districts have been directed to give a list of 25 PHCs to be upgraded and each PHC would be developed at a cost of Rs 20 lakh. “The target has been set to complete the development and up-gradation of PHCs within two months, after which other PHCs will be upgraded,” he said.

Mahesh Chikkaveermath, president of Coonoor gram panchayat in Shiggaon taluk, said that the need of the hour was development and upgradation of PHCs. “During emergencies, we take the patients to the sub health care center of TADAS PHC set up in the village. In the absence of adequate facilities, doctors refer patients to TADAs PHC, where there are not even such facilities. Later we shift patients Kims Hospital,” he said.
Ramesh Kadam, a resident of Kalaghatgi taluk, said, “There is a need for laboratories in all PHCs, as well as facilities to see emergency patients 24X7. Cases of dog bites, snake bites and scorpion bites are common in villages. But due to non-availability of doctors and other facilities, it becomes difficult for people to get timely medical help. At the peak of Covid, people were afraid to visit taluk hospitals and other hospitals for fear of being exposed to the virus. Due to non-availability of facilities in PHC, patients were forced to go to KIMS Hospital.
