Karnataka: 15 districts saw more COVID cases in rural areas. Mysuru News – Times of India

Bengaluru: Spread of covid Rural areas continue to rise with 15 districts reporting more cases of infection in villages than urban centers in the past two weeks.
according to Karnataka State Covid War RoomThe districts with the highest number of Covid-positive rural areas are Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Kodagu, Hassan, Chikkamagaluru, Chamarajanagar, Chitradurga, Mandya, kolar, koppal, Haveri, Ramnagar, Tumakuru and Vijayapura.
While no studies have been conducted to determine the factors that led to the spread in rural parts, the government and health experts say it is due to increased mobility of people and lack of adherence to COVID-appropriate behaviour.
The high number of cases in the rural areas of Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu and Chikkamagaluru has increased the anger of locals against those traveling from outside their districts, especially tourists from Bengaluru. Data shows that around 37,000 villages and 272 cities across the state have been hit by COVID in the last seven days.
The top 20 villages with the majority of cases are from the five districts of Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu, Udupi, Chamarajanagar and Chikkamagaluru. However, this is not worrying, as most of these districts have recorded good recovery in the last two weeks.
Meanwhile, the total number of active cases in the state stood at 22,728, with the majority of cases being from Bengaluru (8,193), followed by Dakshina Kannada (3,595). In terms of daily count, Dakshina Kannada district reported more cases (475) than Bengaluru (321 cases) on Thursday.
