Silchar: A police officer has been arrested in Patharkandi Karimganj District after a video surfaced on social media on Friday purportedly taking a bribe from a man.
Accused Jitendra Prasad Singh is a sub-inspector of Patharkandi police station. A senior police officer in Karimganj said, “There was an accident on the Patharkandi-Achimganj bypass road on October 16. Two cars were involved in the accident and SI Jitendra Prasad Singh, probing the matter, had allegedly demanded Rs 7,000 and Rs. One of the vehicle owners. The vehicle owner secretly recorded a video of him giving money to Singh. The video is doing the rounds on social media for the past two days.”
