Ranveer Singh received a special birthday gift from Karan Johar as the filmmaker announced that he will direct the actor and Alia Bhatt in their upcoming romantic saga ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Love Story’.
Revealing about his directorial debut, Karan Johar shared on Twitter, “Thrilled to get behind the lens in front of your favorite people! Presenting Rocky and Rani’s love story, titled by Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt and written by Ishita Moitra, Shashank Khaitan and Sumit Roy.”
As soon as Karan made the announcement, Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh also shared the news on their respective social media handles.
Revealing that the rest of the star-cast will be unveiled soon, Alia Bhatt took to Instagram and wrote: A love story that is going to be far from normal, Rocky and Rani ️ afternoon to meet the rest 2: stay family at 00 #RockyAurRaniKiPremKahani #RRKPK

Karan Johar is returning to the director’s role after a break of five years. His last film as a director was ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ released in 2015, starring Anushka Sharma, Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Fawad Khan in the lead roles.
Earlier on Monday, Karan Johar had shared with fans on Instagram that he will announce his new directorial debut on July 6 at 11 am. Johar shared a behind the scenes video clip of his past successes as a director.
“It’s the start of a new journey and my way back home – all at once. It’s time to go back to my favorite place, it’s time to create some eternal love stories from behind the lens.
