Karan Johar said he wants to revamp Koffee with Karan and will bring the show back next year.

Karan Johar has confirmed that his popular chat show, Koffee with Karan, will not return for a new season this year. Karan said that he is taking a break this year to revamp the show and will be back with the 9th season in the second half of 2025.

Speaking to Sucharita Tyagi about the show’s latest season, Karan said, “In the history of Koffee with Karan, it was the most boring rapid fire. It was so boring that I was like snooze alert. I’m like why am I even doing this? You’re not giving me questions. Should we just drop the rapid fire? Main hi hamper ghar le jaata hoon because no one really deserves to win it.”

Karan added, “Let’s change the world of Koffee with Karan. Let season 9 be all the fun, all the chattiness and all the candour but let’s do it in a way that is not putting the celebrities in an awkward, touchy space. People are scared to open up, they don’t say anything the way they used to. You can’t ask them which is an overrated film or an overrated performance. Nobody is going to give it to you.”

Karan continued, “So I took 2024 off. It’s going to be back 2025. Somewhere around the second half of 2025, we want to come back with a new syntax.”

The last season of Koffee with Karan found itself amid controversy right off the bat. Deepika Padukone and Ranvir Singh were the first guests on the show. They split the beans about their courtship period and also their happy married life. However, some netizens didn’t react too positively to their anecdotes about their dating period. However, it became one of the most-watched episodes in Koffee history.

Other guests included Saif Ali Khan with Sharmila Tagore, Janhvi Kapoor with Khushi Kapoor, Ananya Panday and Sara Ali Khan, Neetu Kapoor and Zeenat Aman, Alia Bhatt and Kareena Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapur and Siddharth Malhotra among others.
