The premiere episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show Season 2 brought together Alia Bhatt, Karan Johar, Vedang Raina, and director Vasan Bala, who are all part of the upcoming action thriller Jigra, set to release soon. Alia and Karan entertained the audience by sharing light-hearted stories about their children and the moments they cherish with them. During the show, Karan candidly spoke about how his twins, Yash and Roohi, are his harshest critics and revealed their amusing confusion over his work.

Karan shared that he often creates bedtime stories for his twins about animals rescuing kids, as they are animal lovers. At one point, Archana Puran Singh asked him about the Instagram videos where his children poke fun at his style choices. Laughing, Karan responded, “My kids are my biggest trolls. So why should I fear anyone else when I have such kids?” He continued, “They’re always questioning me, asking, ‘What are you wearing?’ or ‘Why is your hair like that?’ They even ask, ‘Why are you wearing makeup?’ whenever I get ready for shoots.”

In a recent Instagram video, Karan humorously showcased his twins advising him to dress more like them, adding to the playful dynamic between them.

Karan welcomed Yash and Roohi through surrogacy in February 2017. Yash was named after Karan’s late father, Yash Johar, while Roohi’s name is an anagram of his mother Hiroo’s name.

One of 2024’s most anticipated films, Jigra, starring Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina, is produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Alia Bhatt, Shaheen Bhatt, and Soumen Mishra under Dharma Productions and Eternal Sunshine Productions. The film is slated for release on October 11.

Meanwhile, Kapil Sharma’s Netflix comedy series The Great Indian Kapil Show (TGIKS) is returning for a second season. The show’s first episode will premiere on the streaming platform on September 21. Ahead of which, the TGIKS team, including Kapil, Archana Puran Singh, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Sunil Grover and Rajiv Thakur, was spotted at the Wagah Border in Amritsar on Sunday.

Just a few days ago, Netflix dropped the trailer of the much-anticipated second season of Kapil Sharma-hosted The Great Indian Kapil Show. Like the last season, the upcoming season will feature the appearances of some esteemed names from the Indian film industry. The trailer began with Thakur saying, “This time around, witness the vibrant colours of Indian culture alongside the biggest superstars!” It was packed with the comedian’s signature one-liners and comedic moments of the show’s cast. Sharing the trailer on their official Instagram page, Netflix India wrote, “When your favourite guests meet Kapil & gang, Shanivaar ka Funnyvaar banna pakka hai. Watch #TheGreatIndianKapilShow Season 2 from 21 September, raat 8 baje, sirf Netflix par!”

The guest line-up for the upcoming season includes Alia Bhatt, Vedang Raina, Saif Ali Khan, Janhvi Kapoor, Jr NTR, Karan Johar, Maheep Kapoor, Seema Sajdeh, Neelam Kothari, Bhavana Pandey, and cricketers Rohit Sharma, Surya Kumar Yadav and Arshdeep Singh. The show’s first season premiered in March this year, with guests like Aamir Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Ed Sheeran, and Vicky Kaushal, among many others.

The Great Indian Kapil Show also marks the first time Kapil and Sunil have collaborated since their fallout some seven years ago. The comedian duo used to work on The Kapil Sharma Show, where Grover gained immense popularity for playing roles like Gutthi and Dr Mashoor Gulati. But he quit the show after an ugly fight with Sharma on their return flight to Mumbai from Australia. Back then, reports stated that the TGIKS host was under the influence of alcohol when he attacked Grover. However, things have gotten better between the two, as Grover has reprised his role in the second season of Kapil’s Netflix comedy series.
