Kapil Sharma was 72 kg during ‘Firangi’, gained 20 kg after flop: I would have become Akshay Kumar

Kapil Sharma is all set to make his Netflix debut with a comedy stand-up special ‘I’m Not Done Still’. The trailer of the special was well received by the audience. Ahead of its premiere this Friday, Kapil shot for a one-on-one session with Anubhav Singh Bassi.

During their conversation, Kapil revealed that there was a time when he took fitness very seriously and almost became like Akshay Kumar, who is known for his disciplined lifestyle. When Bassi showed Kapil an Instagram photo of himself doing yoga and asked him about the story behind it, the actor-comedian said, “Those were great days. I was shooting for my film Firangi at that time. I got nothing from the film except amazing physique. I would get up at 4:30 in the morning. I will be Akshay Kumar. This is a picture of that time.”

Kapil further said that he wants to come back in the same shape. “I was 72 kg in that picture. Now it’s 92 again because the film was a flop (laughs).”

Meanwhile, Kapil Sharma will narrate his love story with his wife Ginni Chatrath on his Netflix stand-up special. In a new promo shared recently, Kapil thanks a brand of liquor for giving Ginni the courage to propose marriage over a phone call.

In a minute long video, Kapil reveals that he mustered up the courage to ask Ginni if she loves him after drinking alcohol. Calling Ginni his “favourite of all actresses”, the comedian said, “I used to assign her a lot of work. She used to call me and report what happened today and how much she rehearsed.

Later, he said that one day he called her when he was drunk. “As I woke up, I asked her, ‘Do you love me?’ She was shocked and said, ‘What?’ He thought, ‘How dare this man ask?’ Thank God I didn’t have a toddy that day, otherwise the question would have been different. I might have asked her, ‘Ginni, does your father need a driver?’ Kapil joked.
