Kanwar Yatra 2022: Indian Railways started special trains for pilgrims

With the commencement of the Kanwar Yatra, Indian Railways has ensured to provide necessary facilities to the devotees participating in the Yatra by increasing the run of two trains till Haridwar, reports ANI. It is worth mentioning that today with the beginning of Kanwar Yatra, devotees from all over India start coming to Haridwar, Gaumukh and Gangotri in Uttarakhand to take holy water from the Ganges River and then worship Lord Shiva with it.

Apart from increasing the running of five pairs of trains, Northern Railway has also added stoppages and coaches on temporary basis for the convenience of Kanwariyas. With this change in application, the operation of Delhi-Saharanpur and Delhi-Shamli passenger trains has now been extended up to Haridwar.

“Additional coaches are being deployed by the Railways, the same trains have been extended from July 13 to July 28 at Haridwar Railway Station, also three additional trains have been prepared by the Railways due to the increase in the number of Kavad passengers, which Haridwar district administration,” said Sudhir Kumar Singh, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Sr. DCM), Northern Railway (Moradabad Railway Division).

In addition, a special train will now run, and long distance trains will have stoppages at Motichur and railway stations. Notably, Doon-Subedarganj Express, Doon-Indore Express, Doon-Ujjain Express, Vaishno Devi Katra-Rishikesh Express, Rishikesh-Badmer Express and Rishikesh-Kochuveli Express will have stoppages at the above stations.

Along with this, a ‘Mela’ special train will be run between Moradabad and Laksar in Haridwar. The train will cover several stations like Kanth, Centara, Dhanpur, Najibabad, Nagina, Maujampur and Balavali.

Indian Railways also informed that proper security arrangements have been made for Kanwar Yatra 2022 and three additional trains are ready for emergencies. 250 Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel will also be deployed to ensure the safety of the pilgrims. Along with this, women battalion will also be present at Haridwar railway station.
