Kanpur : A team of senior administrative and health officials visited on Tuesday Pardevanpurwa In Pokharpur of the district, where the state’s first zika case Reported on Saturday and reviewed the steps taken for the prevention and treatment of infection.
Team formed under the leadership of Divisional Commissioner Raj Shekhar, AD Health, CMO, Additional Municipal Commissioner and others.
As on date, a case of Zika virus Information has been received from Kanpur city.
The patient is undergoing treatment in air force station hospital And the doctors have said the patient’s condition is stable.
The health department has collected samples of 22 other persons who are family members or close contacts of the patients and all the samples were found negative for the virus.
The commissioner interacted with the family members of the infected person and took details of the case, travel history and close contacts.
The Divisional Commissioner said that a medical expert team from Lucknow also visited the city and interacted with all the concerned.
“Even today, a team from the Union Health Ministry and another team from the state government are in Kanpur and they are working on the matter,” the divisional commissioner said.
The commissioner interacted with the expert team of entomology and took updates from them. “They have collected the mosquitoes which will be sent to the National Malaria Research Institute (NMRI), Delhi for DNA testing in a day or two,” he said.
An expert team of epidemiologists from the Government of India has also reached Kanpur. “They will study the past history of the disease,” he said.
He said that necessary preventive measures like cleaning and sanitizing the area, identifying and sanitizing the breeding grounds of mosquitoes have been taken on a war footing.
He said, work is also being done by the health department and district administration to bring necessary awareness about it.
The commissioner directed the Municipal Commissioner, AD Health and CMO to take all steps for prevention and personal monitoring in the identified area so that the disease does not spread.
The commissioner further said, “We all know that the health sector is a priority sector for the state government, which is taking all possible steps to have the best healthcare facilities and infrastructure.”
