Kangana Ranaut reacted to Akali leader’s ‘rape’ remark

Kangana Ranaut reacted to Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader and former Punjab MP Simranjit Singh Mann remark about rape.

Trigger Warning — Rape: Bollywood actor and BJP leader Kangana Ranaut reacted to former Punjab MP Simranjit Singh Mann’s recent ‘rape’ remark. The actress, addressing his comment that ‘Kangana has a lot of experience of rape,’ said that these remarks are rape threats. She added that regardless of their attempts to silence her, she will not stay quiet. Mann and Ranaut’s respective comments came after the actress claimed “rapes” took place during the farmers’ protest.

Speaking with IANS, Kangana Ranaut said, “Agar iss tarah se artist ki aawaz ko dabaya jayega aur ek film ko, creative liberty ko… Kuch logo ne banduke taan di hai, humare maate pe taan di hai, banduko se hum darne waale hai nahi. (Today, the voice of an artist is being suppressed. Some people are ready with guns in their hands but I am not scared of their guns.)”

“Aaj mujhe rape threats bhi aa rahe hai toh iss tarah se wo meri awaaz nahi daba payenge (Today, I am getting rape threats but it will not help suppress my voice),” Kangana added.

She also shared a video of Mann’s comment on X and called him out for ‘trivialising’ rape. “It seems this country will never stop trivialising rape, today this senior politician compared getting raped to riding a bicycle no wonder rapes and violence against women for fun, is so deep rooted in the psyche of this patriarchal nation that it is casually used to tease or mock a women even if she is a high profile filmmaker or politician,” Kangana said.

For the unversed, speaking with ANI, Simranjit Singh Mann triggered a controversy by making a derogatory remark on actor-politician Kangana Ranaut, days after she said rapes took place during farmer’ protests in the country’s northern belt earlier this year. “Kangana Ranaut has a lot of experience with rape. You can ask her how it happens. People should be educated on how rape occurs,” the former Sangrur MP said.
