Kangana Ranaut out of hearing in Javed Akhtar’s defamation case; Court warns ‘Thalaivi’ actress with arrest warrant – Times of India

Kangana Ranaut Javed is facing serious consequences for not attending the hearing Akhtar He had to appear in person before the Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate Vs Kangana Ranaut in the defamation case court. Her lawyer Rizwan Siddiqui said that the actress is traveling constantly and since she is unwell, Kangana has been asked to undergo a COVID test. After this the actress was given relief.

The next hearing on this is scheduled for September 20 and the court has reportedly ordered that if Kangana Ranaut fails to appear, an arrest warrant will be issued against her. Her lawyer had apparently sought a week’s time from the court and even said that Kangana Ranaut would be available for the virtual hearing of the case.

Recently during the hearing of the case, Kangana’s lawyer had said that lyricist Javed Akhtar had called the actress and her sister Rangoli Chandel with the help of a doctor, commonly known to both of them. On his part, Javed Akhtar reportedly said that he tried to ‘advise and pacify’ Kangana Ranaut to resolve her issues with Hrithik Roshan. He also said that Kangana did not listen to him and said that she will handle the issue as per her choice.

Last year, Javed Akhtar had filed the case after Kangana’s alleged ‘derogatory and baseless remarks’ during a television interview. In December 2020, the court directed the Juhu police to investigate Akhtar’s complaint and the subsequent offense of defamation was made and the court initiated criminal proceedings against the actress. Last week, the Bombay High Court dismissed a petition seeking quashing of the defamation case filed by Kangana on the basis of a complaint by lyricist Javed Akhtar.
