Actress Kangana Ranaut Counter defamation case has been filed against lyricist Javed Akhtar. The actress today appeared in an Andheri court in connection with the defamation case filed against her by Akhtar. The hearing of the case has been adjourned till November 15. However, the actress has filed a counter case against Javed Akhtar, raising questions as to why she has been asked to appear in person for the hearing. His lawyer has filed a transfer application in the CMM court.
“It is observed that this Court without giving any sufficient cause and cause and without an order on record which justifies the compelled presence of the accused in a bailable, non-cognizable and compoundable offence, this Court shall, every time the accused is threatened giving the date of issue of the “arrest warrant” without sufficient cause and cause,” read a clause of the complaint.
“Accordingly, we have lost faith in this Court and hence we have made a transfer application in that CMM Court and the next date is October 1, 2021.”
After the actress failed to appear before the Bombay High Court last time, the court extended the time till Monday, 20 September. The actress’s lawyers had said that she had symptoms of Kovid and was tired due to travelling. The court said that a warrant will be issued against the Bollywood actress if she does not appear this time.
The lawyer had submitted a medical certificate before the court stating that the actor was traveling for the promotion of his film and had “developed COVID-19 symptoms. However, Akhtar’s counsel said that it was the proceedings of the case.” There is a well-planned strategy to delay the release. The lyricist’s lawyer further said that Ranaut has refused to appear before the court for one reason or the other as summons were issued to him in February this year.
Akhtar had filed a criminal complaint before the Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate in November last year for making derogatory and baseless remarks against him in a television interview given to a senior journalist.
