Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut reached the Mumbai police station on Thursday after her lawyer informed the Khar police station that she would not be available to present herself before the authorities on Wednesday and sought a fresh date for seeking exemption. An FIR was lodged against him in November after members of the Sikh community complained of allegedly using abusive language against him on social media.
The FIR was registered by Mumbai-based businessman Amarjit Singh Sandhu, 47, along with leaders of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD).
However, after her visit, the Manikarnika actress shared a picture of her visiting the station in her Instagram story section and complained that the country ‘treats nationalists badly’. “Another day, another visit to the police station. Hundreds of politically motivated FIRs and hours of questioning,” she wrote while sharing her picture.
In her next Instagram story, she continued, “This country continues to abuse and devalue the nationalists and if you love your country, you are up against a very powerful enemy. Those in power can vote bank.” Will give priority and for this they can encourage terrorism. So it is a deserted road and guess what? It is fine #JaiHind.”
An official told PTI that Kangana was booked under section 295A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs). And further investigation was on.
The complainants accused Kangana of “deliberately and deliberately” portraying the farmers’ protest (Kisan Morcha) as a “Khalistani” movement and calling the Sikh community “Khalistani terrorists”.
