The Time magazine artwork featuring US Vice-President and White House contender Kamala Harris won admiration from Donald Trump.
US Vice-President Kamala Harris was featured on the cover of Time Magazine’s latest issue. The Time cover story released Monday on the White House contender explored how she became the presidential nominee after Joe Biden dropped out, her attempt to run for president in 2020 and how America’s political landscape has changed since the 2020 election.
The cover story, according to USA Today, also reflected on how Kamala Harris inspired audiences and energised voters better than Joe Biden could. Harris’ campaign team or Harris herself did not speak to the magazine as they have repeatedly declined interviews.
The piece also credited Kamala Harris for “pulling off the swiftest vibe shift in modern political history”, while praising her “work ethic and political dexterity”, and termed her an “overnight sensation”.
Donald Trump, her rival, appeared to compliment Harris’ cover image during an August 12 interview with Elon Musk broadcast on X.
“A picture of her in Time magazine today… She looks like the most beautiful actress ever to live,” Trump told Musk.
Trump also pointed out that the cover photo was ‘a free ride’ media was giving her.
“She’s terrible, but she’s getting a free ride,” he said.
At one point he appeared to compare her to former US first lady and Trump’s wife, Melania Trump.
“She looked very much like our great first lady, Melania. She didn’t look like Kamala but of course, she’s a beautiful woman, so we’ll leave it at that,” he further added.
