Indian 2 star Kamal Haasan delivered a powerful speech at the audio launch of the film.

Tamil actor Kamal Haasan is making headlines for his powerful speech about unity. The actor attended the audio launch of his upcoming film, Indian 2, where he delivered a speech about safeguarding the unity of the country. He said that the ‘divide and rule’ policy was a thing of British. He said that with the English rulers long gone, India should also do away with the tactic and work towards unity. Kamal was touching upon the themes of Indian 2 and Indian 3 when he delivered the speech.

“I am a Tamilian and an Indian; that’s my identity, and yours too. That’s the concept behind the sequels,” Kamal Haasan said, as reported by The Hindu. “Divide and rule is a British concept. It worked back then because they had a home to go back to. It will no longer work. I wonder where those trying to do the same today would go to?” he added.

Expressing his wish to see a Tamil political leader ruling the country, Kamal said, “Yathum oore, yavarum kelir. (Every city is your city; everyone is your kin.) We are known for giving lives to those who have come to our state. Why shouldn’t there be a day when a Tamilian rules the country? This is my country, and we must safeguard the unity within it.”

His speech was delivered just days before the results of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 will be announced.
