Kalki 2898 AD is set to release on June 27, 2024. The film stars Deepika Padukone, Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani in pivotal roles.
The eagerly awaited sci-fi blockbuster ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is poised to captivate global audiences when it premieres on June 27, 2024. Featuring a remarkable ensemble cast of Indian cinema legends including Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Disha Patani, the film has already generated significant buzz and anticipation among fans.
A week before the film’s release, Deepika Padukone unveiled a fresh new poster from the film featuring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan and Disha Patani, standing beside each other with a sepia toned sky as the backdrop.
We also hear that, the film has been passed by the Censor Board. As per reports, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan starrer Kalki 2898 AD has been given the U/A certificate by the CBFC. A copy of an alleged Censor Board certificate is doing the rounds online which shows that the film has been approved by the committee but with two changes. The film’s run time is also revealed to be a little less than three hours.
The Times of India shared a fan post featuring the certificate and it mentioned that the Censor Board wanted to small changes to be made. The certificate mentioned, “Insert a disclaimer in the beginning with voice over about fictional content with cinematic liberties and no intention to hurt any religion (Inserted in voiceover).”
The certificate also mentioned, “Excise the word ‘Veedi’ while referring to Kaal Bhairava. Along with the subtitle text (Replaced with Devudu).” They also added, “Insert the card 2898 AD in the beginning of sc2. (Inserted 6000 years after Mahabharata).”
Directed by Nag Ashwin, the trailer released earlier this month suggested that Kalki 2898 AD is a futuristic take on the Mahabharat. The story begins in Kaashi, a land rich in resources, ruled by Saswata Chatterjee’s character, who demands complete loyalty. A prophecy reveals a child will overthrow him, and this child is carried by Deepika Padukone’s character. To protect his reign, the king puts a bounty on her head.
Prabhas’ character, Bhairava, a top hunter, believes it’s his destiny to capture her. Amitabh Bachchan’s Ashwatthama aims to protect her. The trailer ends with an intense glimpse of Kamal Haasan, leaving fans excited.
At an event held in Mumbai on Wednesday, the team praised the director for his vision and said showed their excitement for the film’s release.
