Kagiso Rabada picked up six wickets as South Africa bowled West Indies out for 159, thus registering an 87-run victory
Kagiso Rabada took six for 50 to guide South Africa to an 87-run win over the West Indies in the first Test at the SuperSport Park in Centurion on Thursday.
After bowling the hosts out for 116 in the morning, West Indies needed 247 to win but were bowled out for just 159.
The only resistance of note came from Jermaine Blackwood, who made a blistering 79 before being dismissed for ninth place.
The match ended with over two days as the fast bowlers from both the teams dominated on a variable bouncy pitch.

Kemar Roach of the West Indies took five for 47 in the morning as South Africa lost their last six wickets for 67 runs to progress to 49 for four.
When West Indies batted, wickets kept falling.
In the over before lunch, Craig Brathwaite was caught on the leg side by Rabada.
Rabada had first innings top-scorer Ramon Reifer caught for eight shortly after lunch and Marco Jansen took two wickets in his first over.
Taginereen Chanderpaul was caught on a top ball and Roston Chase was bowled first ball.
When Gerald Coetzee had Kyle Mayers caught at first slip by Dean Elgar for a duck, the West Indies were 33 for five, with three of the top six ducks.

Blackwood played aggressively as he and Joshua da Silva put on 58 runs for the sixth wicket before Rabada had da Silva caught at third slip by Keegan Pietersen for 17 shortly before tea.
There was more resistance from Jason Holder, who scored 18 runs in a 37-run partnership with Blackwood before Rabada was hit again, leaving Holder behind.
Blackwood defeated South Africa in only 51 balls, hitting eight fours and a six.
Playing with the tail, his scoring rate slowed as he made his way to 79 for Rabada as the fifth victim, lofting Aden Markram at second slip.
On the last ball of the same over, Rabada ended the match by dismissing Kemar Roach lbw.
Wicketkeeper da Silva took seven catches to equal the world Test record for most dismissals in an innings in South Africa’s second innings, along with Pakistan’s Wasim Bari, England’s Bob Taylor, New Zealand’s Ian Smith and West Indies teammate Ridley Jacobs .
South Africa’s troubles started early when Heinrich Klaasen played a loose drive against Jason Holder and was caught behind for seven runs in the third over of the morning.
Markram, who scored a century in the first innings, took his score from 35 to 47 before being caught behind by Roach off the first ball of the day.

South Africa were reduced to 80 for eight, with the West Indies bowlers rarely giving the batsmen opportunities to play attacking shots.
New cap Gerald Coetzee scored a 15-ball 20, including a six and a four off successive deliveries from Gabriel, before Roach wrapped up the innings.
