Justice Ramesh Dhanuka sworn in as Chief Justice of Bombay High Court

Justice Ramesh Devkinandan Dhanuka was on Sunday sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court.

Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais administered the oath of office to Justice Dhanuka in a brief swearing-in ceremony held at the Raj Bhavan. A Raj Bhavan statement said the ceremony began and ended with the national anthem played by the police band.

Justice Dhanuka is scheduled to demit office on May 30 on attaining the age of 62, and will have a tenure as Chief Justice of four days, possibly the shortest.

Justice Dhanuka was born on 31st May, 1961 and did his schooling and college in Mumbai, He obtained first class and stood second in the third year law examination conducted by the University of Mumbai in 1985.

He started practicing law at the Bombay High Court in 1985 in the chambers of Sh. Justice DR Dhanuka (retd), until his elevation as a judge of the Bombay High Court in 1990. He practiced on the appellate and original side of the High Court of Judicature at Bombay in constitutional law and other branches of law and particularly arbitration, companies. Justice Dhanuka was on the Senior Counsel Panel of the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai for the past several years and has appeared in a large number of cases representing the Municipal Corporation in the Bombay High Court.
