Junior World Wrestling Championship: Silver for Sanju and Bhateri; Saneh made a painful end to the campaign. More sports news – Times of India

UFA (Russia): No gold medal left for India in junior world Wrestling as both the championship Bhateri (65 kg) and Sanju Devi (62 kg) lost in their respective finals, while Saneho (72kg) was ruled out of the mat after suffering a knee injury in the bronze play-offs on Friday.
Sanju Devi had managed to make a comeback in her previous bouts but Friday was not her day as Russia’s Alina Kasabieva won the gold medal with a technical superiority win.
Kasabiwa first made a take down move and then got a two point throw. There was still hope but once the Russians grabbed Sanju’s leg and got the grip they wanted to execute ‘Fitly’, the Indian had no chance of coming back.

The match was over within the first period.
Bhateri also failed to compete and lost in the 65kg final to Itina Ringasi of Moldova due to technical superiority. Bhateri’s strategy of playing the waiting game proved to be a mistake as he attacked hard.
Bipasha (76kg) won silver while Simran (50kg) and Sito (55kg) won bronze on Thursday.
Indian women finished the tournament with five medals – three silver and two bronze.
Men’s freestyle wrestlers won six medals with one silver and five bronze.
India’s Greco-Roman wrestlers, however, struggled again as none of the five wrestlers played on Friday could make it to the semi-finals.
