“After completing my schooling in 2007, I moved to Mumbai. I was training then and was seeking guidance from several teachers. I still remember that in 2008 I did not get a chance to meet anyone other than Rehman sir. I must admit that this proved to be a turning point in my career. I was only 18 at that time. Rahman sir came to judge a reality show and as soon as I heard this news I went on the sets to meet him and he gave the most important advice of my life. He told me that Mumbai has always impressed talent and you have a core quality and uniqueness in your voice but you are still very young. Be patient and wait another 2-3 years to get mature voice. His words are still etched in my heart,” Zubin was quoted as saying.

Zubin followed Rahman’s advice and returned to his hometown after the first year of college. As a result, Zubin underwent extensive training for a few more years. At the age of 21, Zubin finally realized that his voice had acquired the maturity that AR Rahman was talking about.
