Bharatiya Janata Party national president JP Nadda will flag off the nine-day state-wide Vijay Sankalp Yatra from Vijayapura in Karnataka on Saturday, the party said.
With the assembly elections in the state due in about four months, the BJP has stepped up its poll campaign by launching a nine-day public outreach program from Vijayapura.
The campaign is being launched two days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Yadgir and Kalaburagi, where he launched irrigation, drinking water and highway projects and distribution of hakku patras (land title deeds) to the nomadic tribe Lambanis.
State BJP media cell in-charge Karunakar Khasle said in a statement that Nadda would reach Kalaburagi in a special flight on Saturday morning and reach the Gnana Yogashram at Vijayapura and pay homage to Sri Siddheswara Mahaswamiji, who had passed away recently.
After this, BJP President Vijay will go to Nagthana assembly constituency to flag off the Sankalp Yatra, which will continue till January 29.
According to party sources, the yatra will include door-to-door campaign and BJP membership drive and strengthen the party’s base at the booth level.
During the next nine days’ statewide programme, which will start from Vijayapura, the BJP intends to induct over one crore new party workers.
“Our party has 39 electoral districts in 312 mandals in 224 constituencies. There are 58,186 booths spread across Karnataka. This Vijay Sankalp Yatra will be launched in the entire state at a time,” BJP state general secretary and former MLC Siddaraju told PTI.
The BJP’s campaign includes five programs – door-to-door campaign to reach two crore people, wall painting with the permission of home-owners, digital wall painting, membership drive and interaction with beneficiaries, he explained.
According to Siddaraju, the door-to-door campaign will also include pasting of stickers on houses and vehicles with the permission of the owner.
He said that the family members would be encouraged to become BJP members by giving a missed call on the dedicated phone number of the party.
At most places, the party will organize dialogues with the beneficiaries of various government schemes.
