A leading private hospital in Delhi on Saturday claimed that joint pain and back pain are the most common problems among post-Covid patients in its orthopedics department. even after recovering from coronavirus A large number of people are battling post-Covid complications, ranging from weakness to hair fall and skin complications.

According to Dr. Vishal Nigam, Orthopedic and Spine Surgeon at Moolchand Hospital, “Back pain and joint pain are the most common presentation in orthopedic clinics post-COVID. Around 15 per cent of patients present with joint pain or joint pain, and 45 per cent Patients are present with muscle pain or myalgia”. He said that joint pain can be temporary or it can last for a long time.

One of the wrong steps taken by patients is to try to get back to normal routine quickly despite the weakness. This leads to injury rather than recovery. Doctors said that exercise and routine should be progressed gradually, respecting the fact that the body is weak and needs time to regenerate. “Post-Covid fatigue leads to fatigue and prevents resumption of normal activities,” Nigam said.

Aging causes disorders of the joints and spine medically called degeneration of joints and discs. Unless one is active and fit, this degeneration may not cause symptoms. But if some disease causes muscle weakness and loss of fitness, then this degeneration causes joint pain. He said these temporary joint pains improve as fitness and activity gradually return to normal. “More severe and long-lasting joint pain can lead to reactive arthritis. Similar to the inflammatory response that damages the lungs, cytokines also damage the joint capsule. This is commonly seen in other viral diseases such as chikungunya And sometimes seen in coronavirus infection too,” the doctor said.

The pain in this condition is associated with inflammation of the joints, and is more severe and longer lasting. Such pains increase after periods of inactivity, such as getting out of bed in the morning, he said. The cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in Delhi stood at 14,35,419 on Friday.
