Asim Arun was IPS for 27 years. He joined BJP in January 2022 and on 25 March he got the status of Minister of State in the Yogi cabinet. IPS officers were made for father
Asim Arun’s childhood picture.

Asim, 18, studied at St. Francis School in Lucknow. From childhood he was very fond of reading and writing. His father Shriram Arun was an IPS officer. He also wanted to make Asim an officer like himself.
In 1991, Asim did his B.Sc. After that he started preparing for civil services to fulfill his father’s dream. He also passed in the examination. He was inducted into the Indian Police Services on 2 January 1995.
Asim Arun became an IPS officer in 1995.
Worked with Manmohan Singh
In 2004, the government of Manmohan Singh was formed. Until 2003, Asim worked as an officer in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) in Kosovo. From that time, Asim was considered a strong police officer.
That’s why he was posted in the nearest security officer of Manmohan ie SPG. He held this position till 2008.
First district level team SWAT formed to avoid terrorism
Asim made the country’s first SWAT team
In the year 2009, Asim’s posting was in Aligarh. Here he formed the country’s first SWAT team. SWAT means Special Weapons and Tactics Team or Special Weapons and Tactics Team. Its purpose was to complete all the dangerous missions related to terrorism.
ISIS Terrorists Saved from a major accident in Lucknow by killing
In March 2017, Asim got information from intelligence sources about an ISIS terrorist named Saifullah. He was a resident of KDA Colony, Kanpur. He was hiding somewhere in Lucknow. Asim came to know that this terrorist is going to carry out any incident in 1-2 days. There was not much time to catch him.
Asim immediately made a plan to catch him. He took the help of ATS commandos and policemen. After an encounter that lasted 11 hours, he was surrounded and killed in Thakurganj area of Lucknow. A major incident was avoided.
Joined BJP with VRS
8 January 2022: Asim took VRS.
7 days later…
16 January 2022: Asim announced to join BJP.
6 days later…
23 January 2022: BJP declared Asim as its candidate from Kannauj Sadar seat.
Defeated Anil, who was a three-time SP MLA
He defeated Anil Kumar of Samajwadi Party, a three-time MLA from Kannauj Sadar. Won the election by a total of 6 thousand 90 votes.
Went to Anil’s house 3 hours after winning, persuaded them to work together

Asim reached the house of SP leader Anil Kumar about 3 hours after winning. Took his blessings. Took a selfie with him and persuaded him to work together for the betterment of Kannauj.
Asim’s name was also discussed to become Deputy CM.
A list of the Yogi cabinet went viral on WhatsApp 4 days before the swearing-in ceremony. In this, the name of Asim Arun was written in front of the Deputy CM. However, this list was fake. But after this Asim’s discussions for the post of Deputy CM gained momentum. But in the end, the names of Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brijesh Pathak were approved for the Deputy CM.
Asim took oath as Minister of State on 25 March
On March 25, Asim Arun took oath as the Minister of State.
On 25 March 2022, Asim Arun took oath as Minister of State with independent charge in the Yogi cabinet. On March 28, he was given the responsibility of social welfare, SC and ST affairs.
