The singer went on to say that Luna finds it hard to understand why someone would support Donald Trump, “but that’s another issue.”

John Legend has claimed that his daughter, who is eight years old, possesses a special connection with Kamala Harris. The All Of Me singer was among the first well-known artists to openly support Harris for the 2024 presidential election. Luna, Legend’s eldest child with Chrissy Teigen, shares Harris’ Black and Asian ethnicity. The Grammy-winning artist claims that his daughter identifies part of herself as the incumbent vice president of the United States.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter (THR), Legend said, “[Luna] is so excited to see someone who’s Black and Asian like she is, [and] a woman like she is — so she’s looking at [Kamala] like, ‘This is me’ up there.” He continued saying that it is very “inspiring” for his daughter to observe that and that “she’s excited.”

The singer went on to say that Luna finds it hard to understand why someone would support Donald Trump, “but that’s another issue.” Having backed Democratic candidates in the past, Legend expressed his excitement at Harris’ nomination as the Democratic presidential candidate.

According to what he told THR, the “top of the ticket” required modification in order to experience the current level of enthusiasm in the US. He asserted that there is a surge in previously nonexistent voter turnout, mobilisation and participation, as well as a desire to get out and encourage others to vote.

The Glory singer made reference to the ages of President Joe Biden and Trump, saying that voters in the US were “apathetic” about choosing between two 80-year-olds and were eager for some fresh “excitement” and “energy.” The 45-year-old musician told the news outlet that he is “grateful” to Biden for undertaking that “sacrifice” because it is typical for presidents to compete for reelection after a successful first term.

According to Legend, Biden saw it would not be the best course of action for the nation and appeared “graceful and patriotic by stepping down and allowing a new generation to step up.” He was quoted as saying, “And I think that act has inspired so many people, and it’s a beautiful thing. I love seeing it.”

On the other hand, this week saw the beginning of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. The Washington Post reports that Legend will be the headliner at an event at the Salt Shed today, which will be sponsored by Illinois Governor JB Pritzker.
