Job Registration Went Up Manifold In 2020, Cov A Hurdle In Hiring | Ranchi News – Times of India

Ranchi: The Covid-19 pandemic has impacted the employment of the youth as the majority of registration for jobs came in 2020 in the sub-regional employment exchange office here.
A total of 17,604 candidates applied for jobs in 2020, which is three times more than the number of applicants in the last seven years, according to the sub-regional employment office. Moreover, the data show that 4,098 companies were contacted and 938 candidates were hired through Rozgar Melas and hiring camps.
Nishi Kant Mishra, the assistant director of the employment exchange, said, “The Covid-19 pandemic impacted the normal life of people, resulting in an increase in the demand for jobs. However, there is still a lack of awareness about the employment exchange and the majority of candidates are not able to avail the opportunity by registering themselves.”
The employment officer at the exchange, Asha Maxima Lakra, said, “As a bridge between the job seeker and the employer, the sub-regional employment office assists unemployed people from various economic backgrounds. Nevertheless, there are a lot of youths who are not aware of the advantages of private sector careers. The majority of the registrations came during the Covid time. We communicated with many companies but the appointments differ on the basis of the skill requirement of the companies and the qualification of the candidates.”
A recruitment camp is held every month for the people who register themselves for jobs. Registration is free of cost and interested people can register themselves on any working day both online and offline. Youths having passed class VIII and more than 14 years of age can register themselves online at jharkhandrojgar.nic.in or offline through the employment exchange office during office hours starting at 10 am and closing at 5 pm.
