JNUSU demands allotment of hostels, restoration of library, mess services for first year students

JNU students alleged that even though the university has resumed, all facilities are not available to the students.

It’s been several weeks since the university resumed offline classes and hostel rooms for first-year students are yet to be allotted. Besides, the dhabas, which used to be open till 2:30 am, now close at 11 am, the JNUSU councilor said.

The Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) on Monday staged a protest demanding allotment of hostels for first-year students and restoration of library as well as mess services. The protest was held outside the office of the Dean of Students (DoS).

The students also protested the non-availability of specialist at the JNU health center and demanded that dhabas remain open till late night.

“It has been several weeks since the university resumed offline classes and hostel rooms for first year students have not been allotted yet. Moreover, the dhabas which used to be open till 2:30 am now close at 11 am,” said JNUSU councilor Anagha Pradeep.

“There is no specialist in JNU health centre. We have requested the university to restore specialist service.” There was a delay in the timely treatment by the health center and referring him to AIIMS.
