Police had earlier said that Mir was given accommodation in a secure hotel in Srinagar, but he had left it and reached his home without informing the authorities.

Three terrorist associates were arrested after a Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) module involved in the killing of a sarpanch was busted in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Monday.

On Friday night, terrorists were killed near the residence of Sarpanch Shabbir Ahmed Mir in Adaura, Kulgam.

Kashmir’s Inspector General of Police (IGP), Vijay Kumar said on Twitter, “#Kulgam Police busted the #terrorist module of banned terrorist organization HM involved in the recent #murder of #Sarpanch Shabbir Ahmed Mir and was actively involved in 03 #Terrorist associates arrested.”

He said that the police have also seized the incriminating material as well as the vehicles used in committing the crime.

“During investigation it was found that the sarpanch was killed by HM terrorist Mushtaq Yatu on the instructions of HM chief terrorist Farooq Nalli,” Kumar said.
