Srinagar: Lashkar-e- Taiba A BJP leader and his wife were shot dead by terrorists at Lal Chowk in South Kashmir’s Anantnag on Monday, Inspector General of Police Kashmir Range Vijay Kumar Said.
According to IG KumarThe gunmen barged inside the couple’s house, where they were staying at their own risk, though government accommodation was allotted in a protected cluster in Kulgam.
The deceased have been identified as BJP leader Ghulam Rasool Dar, sarpanch of Redwani in Kulgam and Jawahira Begum, Panch wife of Lal Chowk Anantnag.
Both Dar and his wife suffered serious injuries and were taken to the hospital GMC Anantnag. However, both were declared brought dead, the official said.
The couple was allowed to stay at their home in Anantnag on their request, IG Youth Said.
Kumar said that Lashkar-e-Taiba was behind the attack.
Administration suspended with immediate effect PSO Of BJP Sarpanch and his wife. Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar said, “The PSO has been suspended with immediate effect.”
