education secretary Rajesh Sharma He said that the department is contemplating to conduct two term-end examinations for all classes on the lines of CBSE. The first multiple choice question will be held in November.
He said, “If we fail to conduct the year-end examination in February-March due to Covid, marks will be given on the basis of Mark-I (November) examination. Like CBSE, the syllabus for Term-I exam and year-end exams will be different. ”
Sharma said that the administration is hoping that during both the exams, the Covid will not be at its peak and at least one of them will be conducted. He said that a letter in this regard would be issued soon.
Also, this year the syllabus will be cut by 25 per cent as nearly one-third of the academic session has been disrupted due to Covid. It can be said here that schools are closed till class VIII while offline classes for classes IX to XII started earlier this month.
Sources said that the State Council of Educational Research and Training is working on the revised syllabus, committees have already been constituted in this regard.
The subjects which were taught to the students in earlier classes will be removed. Apart from this, the subjects which are not very important can also be deducted. For example, for English, the grammar will be retained but some of the proverbs may be omitted. Last year, the government had reduced the syllabus by 40 percent due to the COVID pandemic.
