Jharkhand: Uncertainties over Hemant Soren future arrest brewing dissent in JMM | India News – Times of India

RANCHI: The uncertainties over the future of its working president and Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren have somehow managed to plug the brewing dissent among a cross-section of the governing Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM’s) lawmakers. The uncertainties arose after Election Commission reportedly sent a sealed cover letter to Raj Bhavan with its recommendation over the fate of Hemant’s assembly membership earlier this week in office-of-profit case.
Several of those lawmakers, including Hemant’s sister-in-law Sita Soren, who were hitting the streets in protest against the UPA government’s policies or tweeting harshly over JMM’s state of affairs, have now rallied behind the CM as he prepares to face his fate after the EC verdict is announced by the Raj Bhavan.
Sita, a three-time MLA from the Jama constituency of JMM bastion Dumka, had in October last year posted a series of tweets and alleged that the party has been held to ransom by a group of touts and dishonest people and urged her father-in-law Shibu Soren to intervene. Her tweets came hours after JMM expelled 12 of its office-bearers — all loyalists of Sita — in Chatra district for six years after finding them involved in anti-party activities.
Party general secretary Vinod Kumar Pandey said, “JMM is united as a unit and all our MLAs are behind Hemant ji. Yes, there are some differences and grudges. Once this crisis is over, the CM will sit down with them individually and sort things out.”
