Three villagers died after being struck by lightning in Palamu district of Jharkhand. The incident is of Lehar Banjari village of Untari Road police station area, where three people died on the spot when 11 thousand volt electric current high tension wire broke and fell.

Police said that some people were sitting on a public platform in Lehar Banjari village around 1 pm on Tuesday. During this, due to strong wind, an 11 thousand volt high-tension wire broke down, due to which three people died on the spot. Many people narrowly escaped in this accident.

According to the information, 42-year-old Butan Choudhary, 55-year-old Suresh Chaudhary and 24-year-old Kushwar Chaudhary, residents of Nawadih Tola of Lehar Banjari, were bathing in the Koel river while sitting on a nearby platform and sunbathing. During this, due to the sudden strong wind, an electric current of 11 thousand volts passing above broke and fell on those people, due to which these three people died a painful death.

After the incident, the local people protested by blocking the road demanding financial compensation to the kin of the deceased. On receiving the information, the police of Untari, Pandu and Rehla reached the spot and tried to persuade the people, but people were not ready to persuade. The agitated people remained adamant on the demand to call senior officials of the Electricity Department.
