Jharkhand: Supreme Court orders weekly monitoring of CBI probe in Uttam Anand’s death case

The Supreme Court had asked the Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court to conduct weekly monitoring of the CBI probe into the death of Dhanbad Court Judge 8, Uttam Anand. The top court had said that there is a need to create such an environment in the country where people associated with the justice system can feel safe.

Earlier, on the death of Judge Anand, the Jharkhand Court had ordered a SIT probe. But later the Jharkhand government handed over the investigation of the case to the CBI.

The apex court had reprimanded CBI and IB
The apex court had on August 6 said that judges across the country are receiving threatening messages on a daily basis. But the Intelligence Department (IB) and the Central Investigation Agency (CBI) are not cooperating with the judiciary. There is no liberty for judicial officers to make such complaints.

In many criminal cases involving high profile individuals or gangsters, even lower courts and high court judges are threatened. Judges are threatened through WhatsApp and Facebook. Because of this, they are forced to work under tremendous mental pressure.
