A school principal and a peon in Jharkhand’s Palamu district came to blows and even attacked one with sticks as teachers and other staff members stood by. The video of the brawl has gone viral.

The incident took place at a district school in Medininagar on Friday morning, when principal Karunashankar reportedly pulled up peon Himanshu Tiwari for not doing his work properly. A heated argument ensues between the two, which soon devolves into abusive language, and then all-out tussling.

The viral video shows the principal berating the peon and the latter angrily answering back. The two hurl abuse and can be seen grappling with, pushing and shoving each other. They also brandish sticks with which they attack the other person. Himanshu Tiwari allegedly injured his hand in the scuffle.

Speaking to India Today, principal Karunashankar alleged that Tiwari was always late and spent the day idling away without doing any work. When he asked the peon the reason for his unpunctuality, Tiwari started abusing him.

“Himanshu Tiwari does not clean the school. He doesn’t water the plants in the garden, because of that they are drying up in this heat. He doesn’t even come to school on time. After spending some time, he goes back home,” Karunashankar said.

On the other hand, peon Himanshu Tiwari claimed that he had reached the school at six in the morning and the principal attacked him with a stick for no reason. He also accused Karunashankar of corruption.

“Because I am a peon, is there no respect for people like us? The principal sold the bricks, wood and iron for the district school’s hostel,” Tiwari said.
