Rail traffic resumed nine hours after miscreants blew up a railway track between Richuguta-Demu stations on Tori-Latehar railway section of Jharkhand’s Dhanbad division. Due to the blast on the railway track, many trains were diverted, while some trains have been cancelled.

During this, the Naxalites also registered their presence by pasting posters in Khunti district. The incident happened on Friday night around 12:30. The Mumbai-Howrah mail was about to pass shortly after the blast occurred on the railway track. The banned organization has called for a nationwide bandh on Saturday to protest the arrest of its top commander Prashant Bose alias Kishan ji and his commander’s wife.

The incident took place a few hours before that. The train movement on the Barkakana-Garhwa railway line came to a standstill due to the damage to the track, the official said. After this, rail traffic has been restored on this section by repairing till around 10:15 am.

Police in Palamu, Garhwa and Latehar districts have been put on more alert after a bomb blast at the said site under Dhanbad Division of Central Eastern Railway ahead of the bandh called by Maoists, he said. Railway spokesperson Prabhat Kumar Mishra said that there was no significant damage to the railway track due to the blast.

Apart from this, a diesel engine trolley was also damaged in the bomb blast by the Maoists, he said. Two wheels of the diesel locomotive derailed due to the breakdown of the track. Thankfully no one was injured in this incident. Traffic on this route has been stopped for the time being due to security reasons. Also, the matter is being investigated.
