Jharkhand: High Court directs JPSC to release revised results soon, 1044 candidates benefit

The Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) on Tuesday informed the Jharkhand High Court that it will soon publish the revised list of successful candidates who appeared in the state civil services preliminary examination conducted by the commission.

The matter came to the fore in a petition filed by Kumar Sanyam, who challenged the merit list of successful candidates first published by JPSC. Based on the statements of the commission’s counsel, Kumar withdrew his petition. In his petition filed in the High Court, Sanyam had alleged that no details of giving reservation were published in the advertisement by JPSC for conducting the preliminary examination of the state civil services.

He had said that there were 114 seats in the general category and as per norms, the result should have 15 times the allotted seats i.e. 1,710 candidates but only 768 candidates have been declared successful.

The Jharkhand High Court on Tuesday directed the JPSC to issue the revised results of its preliminary examinations of class VII to X at the earliest and taking on record the affidavit of the Commission admitting the error in the issuance of results. disposed of.

Names of 1044 more candidates will be included
Earlier, during the hearing of the matter before the Division Bench of Jharkhand High Court Chief Justice Dr. Ravi Ranjan and Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad, JPSC said that the revised result of JPSC Preliminary Examination for class 7th to 10th would be released soon. The names of 1044 more candidates will be included in the revised result of preliminary examination. The Jharkhand Public Service Commission informed the court and sought permission to release the revised results.

To this, the Bench said that JPSC had already admitted the mistake in this matter and had filed its affidavit in this regard on February 11 itself. He said that once a mistake has been made it should be rectified and the revised result should be released soon.

The court said that the error necessitated the need for the permission of the court to issue the result afresh. The court disposed of all the petitions filed in this case as withdrawn after directing the JPSC to issue the revised result taking the affidavit as the basis.

JPSC had earlier given reservation to various categories in the preliminary examination results, against which petitions were filed in the High Court. On this, the court had asked JPSC and the government to clarify the position on reservation and whether the benefit of reservation has been given in the preliminary examination or not.

Earlier on February 11, JPSC had sought permission from the High Court by filing an interim petition along with an affidavit to issue the revised results, admitting that there was an error on the part of the Commission in releasing the results of the seventh preliminary examination of the State Administrative Services.

BJP demands CBI inquiry
The opposition party BJP has been demanding a CBI inquiry alleging malpractices in the civil services examinations of the state. Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren last month said the BJP was creating a ruckus as 3,000 of the 4,000 selected candidates belonged to the reserved category. Soren had alleged that people with ‘Manuwadi’ mindset are unable to accept the success of SC-ST and OBC candidates.
