Minister Banna Gupta took to Twitter to say that the fake video was made by his opponents using an editing app and that he had lodged an FIR so that the truth would come out.
An obscene video clip of an alleged conversation between Jharkhand Health Minister Banna Gupta and a woman has gone viral, with the BJP demanding the resignation of Gupta, who termed the video as fake.
In the 21-second obscene video, Gupta is caught on camera with the voice of a woman who works in a multi-chain furniture store, according to information obtained by CNN-News18. CNN-News18 has not independently verified the authenticity of the video.
BJP MP Nishikant Dubey said in a tweet that the incident has exposed the character of the Congress. “This is the character of @INCIndia, this is the so called case of Jharkhand Health Minister Banna Gupta ji. Playing with the respect of women, Congress worker Sushil Sharma burnt his wife in oven, I wish Gandhi family could understand, if this is true then Congress should be drowned in shame.
Independent MLA from Jamshedpur East Saryu Rai retweeted the tweet saying, “According to Jharkhand in-charge of Congress, Avinash Pandey, all Congress ministers in Hemant government are doing good work. This is a tableau of good work! May be it is just one.” Have a trailer.”
Roy also spoke to CNN-News18 and said that there is every possibility that the video is genuine. He said that the money laundering angle should also be probed.
“The video does not appear to be edited and has more parts. Banna Gupta has lodged an FIR in the cyber police station, but after such a shameless act, an FIR should be lodged against him only. Also, ED should probe the case to probe money laundering. It is now up to Chief Minister Hemant Soren to discuss Gupta’s fate with the Congress high command.

Though Gupta refused to take the call, he took to Twitter to clarify his stand. “To malign my image in social media and in the spirit of political vendetta, some prominent political opponents have deliberately made viral a fake and edited video as part of a well thought out conspiracy. Photo shop or any other editing is clearly visible in the video. This rape was done through an app. I have lodged FIR. The truth will come out soon after the investigation of the police in this matter. Legal action will be taken against all those trying to implicate me through this fake and edited video. Satyameva Jayate!”
State Congress leaders and the Chief Minister’s Office did not respond to requests for comment on the issue.
The incident has brought fresh trouble to the Congress which on Saturday expelled Assam Youth Wing Congress president Angkita Dutta for her alleged anti-party activities as she accused Indian Youth Congress (IYC) chief BV Srinivas of harassment and Filed a complaint in this regard.
Dutta appeared in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate on April 21 and her statement was recorded. In response to Dutta’s complaint and allegations of harassment, Srinivas filed a defamation case and sent him a legal notice.
In the 82-member Jharkhand Assembly, including one nominated legislator, the JMM-led alliance has 48 MLAs (JMM 30, Congress 17 and RJD 1), and the BJP 29 (BJP 26 and AJSU 3).
