After the language dispute in Jharkhand, the Hemant Soren government removed Bhojpuri and Maghi from the list of regional languages ​​of Dhanbad and Bokaro. With this, the government has taken a U-turn from its earlier decision.
The Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms and Official Language of Jharkhand withdrew a notification issued on December 24, 2021. In this, these two languages ​​of matriculation and intermediate level were allowed to appear in the recruitment examinations of district-level posts conducted by the Jharkhand State Staff Selection Commission. On Friday, the Soren government withdrew the notification through a new order. People of both the districts are agitating under ‘Jharkhandi Bhasha Bachao Sangharsh Samiti’ that these languages ​​are not widely spoken in this region.

The list of regional and tribal languages ​​was issued afresh in the new notification. Under this, in view of the movement started demanding the removal of Bhojpuri and Magahi from Dhanbad-Bokaro, the government removed Bhojpuri-Maghi from these two districts. Earlier, State Minister Alamgir Alam, JMM MLA Sabita Mahto and State Congress President Rajesh Thakur met CM Soren and demanded removal of both the languages ​​from the list.
