Jharkhand: 7 girls drowned in pond during ‘Karma Puja’ immersion. Ranchi News – Times of India

The incident took place during the Karma festival at Bukru village in Latehar district.

Latehar: Seven girls aged 12 to 20 drowned in a pond on Saturday in a village in Latehar district of Jharkhand.
Deputy Commissioner Abu Imran said the incident took place in Bukru village under Balumath police station area when the girls went for immersion in a pond after Karma Puja, a major festival in Jharkhand.
Rescue teams reached the spot. Some people were also injured and three of them were admitted to the hospital.
Imran said that the Deputy Development Commissioner of the district has been asked to conduct an inquiry.
A major festival associated with the worship of Mother Nature in Jharkhand is Karma.
