Once again an incident of shame to the society has come to light from Gumla district of Jharkhand. Here 10 youths along with two minor girls carried out a heinous incident like gang rape. Police have arrested two accused in the case while another accused committed suicide fearing arrest. The police officer gave this information on Monday.
The two girls were kidnapped and taken to the forest
Superintendent of Police Ehtesham Waqarib said that the incident of gang rape took place on the evening of October 15. At the time of the incident, the tribal girls were returning home in Gurdari police station area after seeing the Dussehra fair along with their 20-year-old cousin.
Meanwhile, 10 accused on three motorcycles stopped them and made obscene remarks on the girls. When the youth resisted, the accused assaulted him. However, he somehow managed to free himself from their clutches and went to his village for help.
The SP said that the miscreants dragged both the girls to the forest and raped them in turn. Waqarib said that he then thrashed the victims, took them to another nearby place and raped them again.
The brother of the minors immediately went to the village and informed about the incident. The villagers ran towards the forest to find the two girls. Seeing the villagers coming, the accused fled leaving the victim girls. After this, both the victims reached the police station along with the villagers and lodged a report. Medical examination of both the minors was also conducted.
Police formed SIT, two accused arrested
Ehtesham Waqarib said that after the incident of gang rape in Girdhari police station area, the police has formed SIT after registering the case. While raiding the police, two people including the main accused involved in this incident have been arrested. Raids are also being conducted to arrest the rest of the accused. Soon he too will be arrested.
The other eight accused have been identified, police said, adding that one of them committed suicide fearing arrest. Seven accused are still hiding in the forest. Police is conducting raids in the forests to nab the accused. He too will be arrested soon.
At the same time, regarding this matter, BJP state president Deepak Prakash said that this incident has tarnished the image of the state. He said that the cases of crime against women have increased manifold in the state.
At the same time, in the Kokadhara forest of Simdega district of Jharkhand, a minor girl was allegedly gang-raped on October 15 itself. Police have arrested three accused in this case. A senior police officer gave this information on Monday.
Superintendent of Police Shams Tabrez said that the accused included a cousin of the girl, who took her to the forest on October 15 on the pretext of taking her to the Dussehra fair and committed the rape. He told reporters that soon after the complaint was registered, the police swung into action and arrested the perpetrators.
The superintendent of police said that two accused were arrested from Dashtoli forest near Kinbira, while the third was arrested from Khamantad forest.
